Thank You! (9.27.13)

We love when God shows up and His people have an already prepared heart! We are young and always feel inadequate, but the Lord enabled us to speak clearly and deliver what He wanted us to deliver. Everyone seemed very receptive and afterward, Nicole had an opportunity to talk to a young lady who has been burdened to go into full-time ministry, likewise, Seth had an opportunity to talk to a young man who also has been burdened to go into full-time ministry. We hope that we were able to encourage and give some advice to these young adults to pursue full- time ministry. Please pray that these young adults would surrender fully to God’s leading for their lives and would be protected against the attacks from the Devil. Also, pray for the church where we just spoke. They publicly said that if their mission’s budget increases this year, they would take us on for support! Praise God! Much like the Pastor said tonight, “we get involved in missions because that is where God greatly blesses. There are only two types of people in the Bible; the senders and the sent”. We greatly agree with what the Pastor said; this is why we are involved in missions and are being sent.

Pray for our fellow missionary friends (also in this missions conference) going to New Zealand. They are at 89% support and are almost ready to go.

Pray for our fellow missionary friends (home on furlough, spoke at the missions conference) who are currently serving in Tanzania. Several aspects of their ministry are changing and they are asking God for wisdom.

Also, pray for our fellow missionary friends in Cambodia, (“Skyped” them in Cambodia while in our service) they are looking to grow their ministry and purchase land for a church building.

Thank you for reading our prayer requests earlier! We greatly appreciate your encouragement and support!

Awareness Update (9/27/13)

This update is to keep YOU involved in our ministry. If you have a moment, would you please pray for us tonight! Around 7pm Eastern Standard Time, we will be sharing about our ministry at a church during it’s missions conference here in Michigan. This church has already been a huge blessing and encouragement to us. Please pray that we can communicate God’s heart for the lost of this world effectively while also being transparent and showing how God has challenged/convicted/compelled/and changed us forever to be a part of His harvest.

Fun Facts: Part I

We thought it would be fun to keep track of certain things like; states visited, beds slept in, and miles traveled. So since the end of May to the end of September we have (the past four months);

Beds stayed in: 23 different beds

States visited: 10 states visited

Miles traveled: Over 13,000 miles traveled

We almost ran out of gas, the picture below can attest to that. We have a 14 gallon tank, so God really spared us. 🙂

Close Call

Close Call

And counting…this trip has reminded us of when our Lord Jesus sent out His disciples and how they were not to care about where they stayed, and it was just a command to go. This is just a foreshadow as His servants for when we are to go overseas for full-time service for our Lord.

And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide…” -Luke 9:4

So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, WE are unprofitable servant: WE have done that which was OUR duty to do. ” Luke 17:10

Whomever Will Have Us: 7 Beds & Counting

“And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide…” -Luke 9:4

Yes, we are on the road again. This trip will be the longest trip in one succession we have taken to date. We began our trip by heading from Pittsburgh to our first stop in Ohio. Next, we traveled to Michigan for a 3-week tour. With one week down, we have 2 and a half more to go until we head back to PA in time for our home church’s missions conference. Immediately after that, we will head to New Jersey to visit several other churches and attend another missions conference. Following that, we will drive to Illinois for another conference and will be making stops at other churches. We might be home for Thanksgiving? Only to have more speaking engagements already booked in December and January in the PA area and Michigan areas. Please pray with us that each one of these “visits” would represent not just possible prayer and financial support, but also that it provides an opportunity for us to connect with God’s people; to encourage, bless, and have genuine fellowship.

This week has begun a new phase in our lives; we are officially doing “deputation” (fund-raising).  In this first week of our tour we have stayed in a different bed each night, and yes that is 7 beds in 7 nights. We stayed at a “prophets chamber” in Ohio and thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship with the pastoral staff and the people who hosted us. We had a great time; ate hamburgers and hot dogs off the grill, played in a corn-hole tournament, and rejoiced with the church as they had a special emphasis during their service, focusing on what God has done in their church with adding many new members. That meeting led to an invite to their missions conference next year! Praise God. Then we had an opportunity to share with a church in Michigan and help them hand out invitations to their open house TODAY (9-22). Please pray that the church can connect with the community and have a good turn out so that souls can be saved and our Lord can be glorified. We technically stayed in an eighth bed for several hours, that bed was our car 🙂 We camped out one night and Nicole was woken up in the early morning to our neighbors fighting…they were hissing and sounded pretty angry at one another, they were raccoons. I did manage to surprise Nicole one day; we stayed at a bed and breakfast (our first) as a belated anniversary gift. We have been busy and did not have the time to celebrate it, we celebrate events when we can and it does not have to be on that day, what a good thing! Our anniversary was about 2 months ago 🙂

We had the opportunity to stay with a good friend for a day. We will start heading towards upper Michigan to be a part of a missions conference. We will stay with church members; go camping, stay at two different bible institutes and wherever else we can during this trip. We still have many more churches to visit before we go back to PA. We are doing our best to grow closer together by studying the Word more with one another, and praying as a couple more so that we can sharpen one another. We want to use this phase of life (whether it takes 6 months or 18 to raise our support, only God knows) to strengthen our marriage so we can be a stronger team by the time we get to the field. Please pray for us that we can be sensitive to the Spirit and His leading with churches and individuals, pray that we can raise our support on God’s timing and that we can use that time for His eternal praise and glory. Continue to pray for our car that it would not wear out until we head to the field like the Israelites clothing while they wandered in the wilderness. Also, please pray for the health of the indigenous people in PNG that God would preserve them until they receive missionaries so that they can hear God’s glorious Gospel of salvation before they die and go to an eternal state of torment. At the end of the day, this is why we are doing what we are doing, the BIG picture…that the eternal state of souls would be altered, from going to an eternal state of torment to one that is filled with everlasting Joy in having a relationship with our Lord and God.

Michigan Cornfield

Michigan Cornfield

This part is only for those who like being a part of “support projects”.

We will need to purchase/have purchased some of these items, this is to allow those whom love to be a part of projects an opportunity to be involved in our ministry.

Within the next month or so we will need to purchase; tires, 2-4 brakes and 2-4 rotors (we will know better one we do a maintenance check in less than a month). This is just a routine maintenance purchase and hopefully the last one for our car before we head over seas. ($300-400)

Also, in our traveling we came across some really good deals at an outlet. We will need to have these items for tribal living such as; rain jackets, hiking back packs, etc. and we found some of those items for literally half off! So we went ahead and purchased them. (2 back packs and 2 rain jackets =$291)

If you would like to be a part of any of these projects please contact us, thank you!

Travel, Work, Connect, and Repeat

This summer has been filled with many new changes. We have lived in many places and met many new faces. Whenever Seth was not connecting with churches, he was working for a local tent company and (when able) worked with his father-in-law doing odd jobs. Seth has greatly enjoyed his time working at the tent rental company, working up to 16 hours a day, alongside both saved and unsaved men (below is a picture of a tent he set up recently). He is very thankful for the ability that God has given him to work and is also thankful for the times he had to share the Gospel with multiple co-workers in various ways; whom which sparked the conversation (what a blessing!). Seth hopes that these coworkers think more about their conversations and he also prays that their conversation has somehow encouraged his fellow (saved) coworkers and employer. Seth was ecstatic that towards the end of the summer, he asked if he could pray over the meal for the whole crew, and one of the unsaved coworkers encouraged him to do so, and he was humbled with the opportunity to go before the throne of Grace (Heb.4:16) with a mixed group of saved and unsaved men. This job has blessed us by providing for our travel expenditures, as we had to do a lot of traveling already and are about to do a great deal more. We are reminded of Paul in Acts 18:3, where he had to work to help pay his costs’, and coincidentally, he too was a tent worker :).

We will be in the PA area for a week or 2 more so that Seth can work and save up for our travels while also connecting with more churches. After that, we will visit several churches in Michigan for about 2 weeks (part of that time we will be participating in a missions conference), then head straight to New Jersey for another conference. We might connect with another church while in the area then head back to PA to speak at our own home church’s mission conference. After that, it will be back to “tent-working” and scheduling more meetings (for the most part in the PA area), until our next Tour de America 🙂

Nicole has been our personal secretary, keeping all of our paperwork in order. She has also kept in close contact with some of the ladies from her jail ministry in Missouri and has been doing correspondence with them. PRAY for Nicole and for wisdom how to share truth with these ladies.

Continue to PRAY for our safety as we travel and for Gods blessing on our car. PRAY that the Lord would rise up people and churches to join our support team so we can get over to Papua New Guinea as soon as possible. PRAY for the hearts of the people who God is leading to partner with us prayerfully and financially. PRAY for compatible partners for us to work with in our tribal ministry. PRAY for those we hope to soon minister to, that God would preserve them until we get there so that we can give them the Light of our Saviour. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in having us share our ministry at church or over a meal, please contact us, we would love to share the burden God has placed on our hearts with you.
